Stafford Capital Partners expands Legal & Compliance Team appointing Victoria Sherliker as Chief Compliance Officer

London, 5 July 2023 – Stafford Capital Partners (“Stafford”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Victoria Sherliker as Chief Compliance Officer. Victoria moves from gunnercooke LLP where she was a Partner in the Private Equity and Regulatory division. Based in London, Victoria will report to General Counsel, Jim Marsh who joined the firm in February 2023.

Victoria Sherliker brings over 20 years of experience in legal and compliance roles within financial services. Most recently at gunnercooke LLP, Victoria advised investment managers on all aspects of private investment management, compliance strategy, and global regulatory matters. Prior to that, Victoria was General Counsel at MVision Private Equity Advisers for nine years.

Commenting on her appointment, Victoria Sherliker said: “I am excited to be joining Stafford as Chief Compliance Officer and to work with the team in navigating the regulatory and compliance environment across jurisdictions during what is certainly a phenomenal growth phase for the firm. I am also excited to be part of a firm which places sustainability in the centre of its investment philosophy. This is a rapidly evolving sector, and therefore presents great opportunities and challenges that I am very much looking forward to tackling.”

Victoria’s appointment comes shortly after the appointment of General Counsel, Jim Marsh, who joined Stafford from James Fisher and Sons plc where he was Group General Counsel and Company Secretary. Prior to that, Jim was Legal Director at DS Smith plc supporting M&A activity and a number of the operating divisions.

Speaking about the appointments, Stafford’s Chief Executive Angus Whiteley said: “I am delighted to have Victoria and Jim join the team. Both have worked in regulated environments as General Counsels in public and private markets. Jim joins with an impressive track record in senior legal positions at listed multi-national groups, and Victoria brings extensive regulatory and compliance experience advising managers during key periods of business development.

“Both are highly regarded amongst their peers and will be immensely valuable to Stafford in supporting our clients during an exciting phase of growth for us.”
