Stephen is involved in relationship management, investment due diligence, negotiation and monitoring. He was previously with Willmott Forests as Forest Business Manager involved in sourcing and negotiating new business, and timberland investment modeling. Prior to this, he was with URS as a senior consultant specialising in plantation management, timberland appraisals and due diligence.
James is responsible for investment appraisal, financial modelling, due diligence, negotiation and investor reporting.
Prior to Stafford, James was a Senior Analyst at EBG Capital, an agricultural investment advisory firm, where he completed mandates for Family Offices, the UN Food & Agriculture Office and the German International Development Agency. Before this, James was an Investment Manager at EnerCap Capital Partners in Prague, focusing on wind farm project finance and M&A in central and eastern Europe. He also has experience in carbon finance (with Climate Change Capital) and public market transactions.
James holds an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London and a BA (Hons) in Natural Sciences from Clare College, Cambridge.
Ashley works on the client solutions team in North America. Prior to joining Stafford, she worked in business development and client relations with DW Partners, a multi-strategy/special situations credit firm. Previously, Ashley was Director of Investor Relations at Meritage Capital, a boutique investment management firm specializing in differentiated hedge fund solutions and was a Senior Associate, Business Development with Pine River Capital Management, a global alternative asset manager. Ashley began her career in alternatives as an Investor Relations Analyst at King Street Capital Management. She received a Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurial Management and Spanish Studies from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.
Andrew works on venture capital and growth equity opportunities. Prior to Stafford, Andrew worked with Macquarie Investment Management Private Markets and GKM Newport as an investment manager. In these roles, Andrew was responsible for due diligence of primary and co-investment opportunities. He holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and a Bachelors degree from the University of California-San Diego.
Monica is the Office Manager for Stafford’s London office and is responsible for supplier management, administration, HR and Events assistance, as well as providing ancillary support to the global Stafford team. Monica’s background is in office administration and events management, having worked in the UK and the United Arab Emirates, for companies including Nord Anglia Education, Sauflon Pharmaceuticals and Accenture. She holds a BA (Hons) in English Literature from the University of York.
Jos is head of Stafford’s Agriculture & Food investments where he is responsible for all investment management activities in this sector. Most recently he was global lead Capital at agri-food executive search firm Kincannon & Reed, servicing a variety of investors, investment managers, portfolio companies and agribusinesses. He also served as head of Agriculture & Food at the advisory firm, Sherpa Millbank. Prior to this, he was Head of Agri M&A at Société Générale and worked in strategic planning at publicly-traded agribusiness company, Bunge. Jos has deep industry insights across the entire agri-food value chain and holds longstanding relationships with a wide array of industry operators and stakeholders across the world. He started his career working in Corporate Strategy & Development roles at AirFrance-KLM and JTI. Jos studied Economics at the University of Amsterdam.
Dan makes primary commitments to private equity funds in Australia and New Zealand (over $500m since joining in 2007). He sits on Investment Advisory Boards of a range of private equity funds. He also makes co-investments alongside the private equity funds, and acquires secondary private equity fund interests. Prior to joining Stafford, Dan spent three years in Investment Banking at Goldman Sachs, where he advised companies on mergers, acquisitions and capital raisings.
Richard co-founded Stafford Timberland and co-developed Stafford Private Equity’s initial international expansion plan. Prior to this, Richard was CEO of Pantheon Ventures. He is involved in relationship management, strategy formulation and investment evaluation. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in London and has a BSc Honours in Chemistry from Exeter University.
Erica provides advice on all areas involving venture capital investment management. Previously she served as a Senior Advisor for Macquarie Investment Management Private Markets. Prior to Macquarie, Erica founded GKM Newport, an investment firm specializing in venture capital and private equity. She also was co-founder of the Wilshire Private Markets Group. Erica began her career by establishing the venture capital and Private Equity Program for the PA State Employes’ Retirement System. She earned a Masters of Business Administration from the Pennsylvania State University and holds both CFA and CPA designations.
Bryan is responsible for relationship management, sourcing and due diligence for private credit investments. Prior to Stafford, Bryan worked in finance for over a decade with firms such as Bank of America, Wells Fargo Securities and Barclays Capital. In these roles, his primary duties were credit diligence and executing M&A and financing transactions, as well as monitoring expansive credit portfolios. He also spent time in the professional sports world with International Management Group. Bryan attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for both his Bachelors of Science and his Masters of Business Administration.
Carter is a Principal involved in investment research, due diligence, portfolio management and marketing. Carter joined Stafford from MetLife’s Timberland Finance Group where he supported underwriting and portfolio management on institutional timberland debt and equity holdings. He qualified as a Chartered Financial Analyst, has a Masters in Forest Business from The University of Georgia, and a Bachelors in Management from The Georgia Institute of Technology. Carter is a member of the Young Alumni Committee at the University of Georgia's Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources.
Ian works on secondary opportunities for Stafford Private Equity and Stafford Infrastructure. Prior to Stafford, Ian was at Pantheon for 17 years where he headed the US Secondaries Team and sat on the Global Secondaries Investment Committee. Ian is widely networked across all participants in the global secondaries private equity market.
Michelle is responsible for business development efforts in North America. Prior to Stafford, she served as Managing Director at Meritage Capital, a boutique investment management firm specializing in differentiated hedge fund solutions. Previously, Michelle was Director of Investor Relations and Marketing at Bocage Capital, LLC and was an Executive Director and member of the Capital Introduction team at UBS Securities, LLC. Michelle began her career in alternatives as an Analyst at Mesirow Advanced Strategies, Inc. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance as well as Accounting from Miami University.
Miguel is involved in monitoring the operational and financial performance of investments, and due diligence focusing on timberland investments in South America. He was previously with UPM as investment advisor and with Indufor as consultant involved in timberland appraisals internationally. Prior to this, he also founded BALMA, a consulting firm specialising in forest management and operations. He holds a PhD in Forestry from the University of Eastern Finland.
Kurt is responsible for relationship management, sourcing and due diligence for sustainable investments. Prior to Stafford, Kurt worked for Macquarie Investment Management Private Markets as Senior Vice President. He also spent several years identifying clean tech ventures and technologies, incubating start-ups for launch and growth, and consulting with sustainable start-ups. He earned a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Texas-Austin and a Bachelors degree from Carnegie Mellon University.
Rick is involved in relationship management, due diligence and negotiation. He was previously Managing Director for Macquarie Investment Management Private Markets which advised on over $7 billion of assets, including private funds, secondary investments and co-investments. Prior to co-founding MIMPM global private equity and real asset operations, Rick was Vice President at Pacific Corporate Group. He earned a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Texas-Austin and a Bachelors degree from the United States Naval Academy.
Michael is Stafford Timberland’s Financial Accountant and is involved in business support, accounting and administration. He recently graduated from the University of Sheffield with a Bachelor’s degree in history and has financial experience in the oil and gas sector. Michael is currently studying towards the Chartered Accountant qualification.
William manages various global investments for Stafford Infrastructure and contributes to Stafford Sustainable Capital investment activities. He has more than 10 years of industry experience and has held senior management roles with Macquarie Investment Management Private Markets, Swiss Re, and the Asian Development Bank, where he was responsible for sourcing, due diligence, and financing projects in the infrastructure and renewables sectors. William has a Masters in Business Administration from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, a Masters of Science in Environmental Engineering from Stanford University, and both a Masters and Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from The National Superior School of Hydraulics of Grenoble, France.
Marek’s role includes investor relations, asset due diligence and monitoring of investment performance, with a specific focus on the Phaunos Timber Fund. He was previously the Forestry Director at Green Resources, a vertically integrated forest products company operating across East Africa. Prior to this he was a Principal at Pöyry Management Consulting UK, where he led a team providing advisory services to a wide range of stakeholders in the forest sector.
